Solar Panel Cleaning in Newcastle upon Tyne
When cleaning solar panels is worth doing, how it is done safely, and what it will and will not achieve.
Does soiling actually matter
Dust, pollen, moss, lichen and bird mess all reduce the light reaching the cell. British rain deals with a lot of it. What rain does not shift is the build-up along the bottom edge of the panel and anything organic that has taken hold.
Shallow-pitch roofs self-clean less well than steep ones, which is worth knowing if your roof is on the flatter side.

How it is done
Usually from the ground with a fed-pole and purified water, which avoids both roof access and detergent residue. Roof access with proper fall protection where the pole cannot reach. Never abrasives, never high pressure, never harsh chemicals — the anti-reflective coating is easily damaged.
How often
For most Newcastle upon Tyne homes, every one to two years is plenty, unless you are under trees, near heavy traffic or have a bird problem. Monitoring data is a better guide than the calendar.
What it will not do
Cleaning does not fix a fault, and we will not quote you a percentage gain. If generation has dropped sharply rather than drifted, that is a diagnostic job, not a cleaning job.
